PROBLEM
The existing non-drive end generator grease tube can become brittle and break due to the close proximity to the space heater on certain 3516C, 3516C HD, C175-16, C175-20, G3516H HD, and G3520H HD Generator Sets. If the existing grease tube breaks the grease will not get to the non-drive end bearing during the periodic bearing lubrication. |

1. Remove the screws securing the two clamps (1) holding the tube to the bracket. (see Image 1.2.1) 2. Using locking pliers, lock one pair inside the generator barrel on the coupling to hold, lock the other pair on the coupling located outside the generator barrel and remove. (see Image 1.2.2 and Image 1.2.3) 3. Remove the tube from the generator barrel being careful not to drop the washer located between the inner coupling and the generator barrel. (see Image 1.2.4 and Image 1.1.1) 4. Remove the tube from the bearing housing (2). (see Image 1.2.1) |

5. Remove the 1/8" coupling, 1/8" pipe nipple and washer from the existing tube. 6. Re-install the components removed in step 5 to the new hose. 7. Pre-load the new grease tube with grease (this is an important step). 8. Install the new tube in the bearing housing. (see Image 1.3.1) 9. Install the other end of the new tube through the generator shell and place the 1/8" coupling on the outside of the shell to hold in place (see Image 1.2.4). 10. Repeat step 2 above to tighten the tube in place. When tightening the tube, position the tube so that it does not come in contact with the non-drive end bracket at any location. 11. Do not reinstall the clamps securing the tube to the non-drive end bracket. |
