Start By:

  1. Remove the hoist control valve.

  1. Remove bolts (1) in order to remove bracket (2) .

    Note: The relief valve must be removed in two sections in order to gain access to the mounting bolts.

  1. Remove bolts (3) in order to remove valve body (4) from valve body (5) .

  1. Remove O-ring seals (6), O-ring seal (7), valves (8), springs (9), stops (10), shims (11), stems (12), and orifice (13) from valve body (4) .

  1. If necessary, remove plug (14), plug (15), and plugs (16) from valve assembly (4) .

  1. Remove bolts (17) in order to remove valve body (5) from body (18) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (19), O-ring seals (20), O-ring seal (21), O-ring seals (22), valve (23), and spring (24) from valve body (5) .

  1. Remove plug (25), plug (26), spool (27), and spring (28). Use Tooling (A) in order to remove seats (29) from valve body (5) .

  1. If necessary, remove plugs (30), plugs (31), and plugs (32) from valve body (5) .

  1. Remove bolts (33) in order to remove actuator assembly (34) and adapter (35) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (36), plug (37), piston (38), and O-ring seal (39) .

  1. Use Tooling (D) and a suitable press in order to compress the springs. Use Tooling (B) in order to remove retaining ring (42). Release the compression slowly and remove Tooling (D) .

  1. Remove retainer (43), spring (44), spring (45), and spring (46) .

  1. Remove cartridge (47) in order to remove coil assembly (48). Remove spring (49). Remove O-ring seal (50) .

  1. Remove bolts (51). Remove plate (52) .

  1. If necessary, remove plug (53) and plug (54). Remove O-ring seal (55). Remove spool (56) .

  1. Remove stem (57) from body (18) .

  1. Remove bolts (58) in order to remove actuator assembly (59) .

  1. Remove O-ring seals (60) and O-ring seal (61) .

  1. Use Tooling (D) and a suitable press in order to compress the springs. Use Tooling (B) in order to remove retaining ring (62). Release the compression slowly and remove Tooling (D) .

  1. Remove retainer (63), spring (64), spring (65), and spring (66) .

  1. Remove cartridge (67) in order to remove coil assembly (68). Remove spring (69). Remove O-ring seal (70) .

  1. Remove bolts (71). Remove plate (72) .

  1. If necessary, remove plug (73) and plug (74). Remove O-ring seal (75). Remove spool (76) .

  1. If necessary, remove plug (77), plug (78), and plug (79) .

  1. Remove plug (80) and O-ring seal (81). Remove spring (82). Remove bearing sleeve (83) and poppet (84). Repeat this step for the remaining plug (85) .

  1. Use Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device in order to turn over valve assembly (86). The weight of valve assembly (86) is approximately 141 kg (310 lb). Remove bolts (87) and bolts (88) in order to remove manifold assembly (89). The weight of manifold assembly (89) is approximately 55 kg (121 lb).

  1. Remove O-ring seal (90), O-ring seal (91), O-ring seal (92), and O-ring seal (93) .

  1. Remove relief valve (94). Remove bolts (95) in order to remove counterbalance valve (96) .

    1. Remove plug (97), O-ring seal (98), shims (99), spring (100), shims (101), valve (102), and O-ring seal (103) from valve body (104) .

  1. Remove O-ring seals (105) and the backup rings from counterbalance valve (96) .

    Note: The O-ring seals and the backup rings are the only serviceable parts of the counterbalance valve. The parts are available as a kit.

  1. Remove plug orifice (106) from manifold assembly (89) .

  1. If necessary, remove plug (107), plug (108), and plug (109) from manifold assembly (89) .
