- Remove drain plugs (2) from filter housings (1). Drain the oil into a suitable container. Clean the drain plugs and install the drain plugs.
Note: Removing the drain plugs from the bottom of the filter housings may not drain all of the oil from the filters.
- Remove the filter housings and the filter elements. Discard the used filter elements.
- Wash the filter housings in clean nonflammable solvent.
- Replace the seals in the filter bases.
- Install the new filter elements in the filter housings. Install the filter housings.
- Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle. Make sure that the parking brake is engaged. Check for leaks and make any necessary repairs.
- Check the oil level in each final drive. If necessary, add oil. For the proper procedure, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Final Drive Oil - Check".
Note: Correct oil levels are critical in the final drives. Check the oil level after repairs and after maintenance.
Note: The final drive oil level needs to be checked and maintained at operating temperature. If the oil level is checked cold, adjustment of the oil level may be necessary when the truck reaches operating temperature.
