The space between the body and the frame becomes a zero clearance area when the body is lowered. Failure to install the retaining cable can result in injury or death to personnel working in this area.

Personal injury or death can occur from heavy components falling during removal or installation.

Properly support the component with a suitable lifting device during removal or installation.


------ WARNING! ------

The Power Train Electric Drive System and the Accessory Power System will contain hazardous voltage levels during machine operation and for a period of time after machine shutdown.

Do not remove any covers that will expose energized electrical components while the engine is operating. Do not remove any covers that will expose the energized electrical components while the components remain energized following an engine shutdown.

Do not perform any type of electrical maintenance on the orange hazardous voltage conductors, the power train components or the accessory power system components while the engine is operating.

Always perform the safe shutdown and de-energizing procedure before performing electrical service on the Power Train Electric Drive System or the Accessory Power System.

  1. Install the truck body retaining cable. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cable (Truck Body Retaining)".

  2. Refer to Troubleshooting, "The Power Train Electrical System Service Shutdown" for information pertaining to the removal or installation of the inverter cabinet.

  3. Remove cover (1). and ground straps (2).

  4. Disconnect bulk head (3). Remove panel (4).

  5. Disconnect cable assemblies (5), cable assemblies (6), cable assemblies (7), and cable assemblies (8).

    Note: Place identification marks on each of the cables and the corresponding locations for installation purposes.

  6. Position cable assemblies (5) and cable assemblies (8) out of the way.

  7. Disconnect bulk head (9). Position cable assemblies (6) and cable assemblies (7) out of the way.

  8. Disconnect harness assembly (10), harness assembly (11), and clips (12).

  9. Use a suitable lifting device to remove walkway assembly (13). The weight of walkway assembly (13) is approximately 163 kg (360 lb).

  10. Disconnect hose (14).

  11. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device onto inverter cabinet (15). The weight of inverter cabinet (15) is approximately 3039 kg (6700 lb).

  12. Remove bolts (16), washers (17), and mount assemblies (18). Repeat this step for the remaining mount assemblies.

  13. Use Tooling (A) and the suitable lifting device to remove inverter cabinet (15).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install inverter cabinet (15) in the reverse order of removal.
