In order to install the bearing cap correctly the retaining ring must face towards the suspension cylinder when installed. An incorrectly installed bearing cap may result in cap bearing failure and/or front suspension cylinder failure. |
The installation of the front suspension group in Special Instruction, REHS5076, "Assembly Procedure for the 789DOff-Highway Truck" has been updated. Refer to Illustration 1 for the correct orientation of the bearing cap for installation.
For a complete list of material and the correct procedure that is needed in order to install the front suspension group, refer to Special Instruction, REHS5076, "Assembly Procedure for the 789DOff-Highway Truck". The special instruction can be found on the Caterpillar service information system (SIS) and through the normal literature distribution system at your local Cat dealer.
Note: The service manuals listed in Table 1 have also been updated.
