PM-200 Cold Planer Caterpillar

Lower Conveyor Belt (First Stage) Tension and Tracking - Adjust

Usage:

PM-200 P1C
Note: Keeping the proper tension on the conveyor belts is necessary for long belt life. Proper tension on the conveyor belts is required for proper conveyor operation.

The conveyor belts will naturally stretch with normal use. Adjust the belts with small corrections. Check the operation with each adjustment.

Use the following procedure in order to adjust either conveyor belt. Check the operation and tracking after each adjustment with the belts under load.

  1. Lower the front and rear legs of the machine to the lowest position possible.

  1. Raise the primary conveyor to the highest position possible.

  1. Turn the engine OFF.

  1. Use an 86 cm (33.86 inch) length squared tube (1) positioned at a distance (A) 61 cm (24 inch) from the first idler return roller (2) on the frame of the primary conveyor.

  1. Assemble a 200 cm (78.74 inch) length rectangular 25 mm (0.98 inch) x 15 mm (0.59 inch) bar (3) by inserting the bar in the left and right track holes at a distance (B) 11 cm (4.33 inch) from the track frame.

  1. Attach two hooks (4) and two suitable chains (5) to the squared tube (1), as shown in Figure 3. Root chain (5) forward of bar (3). Attach a 60 kg (132.28lb) weight (6) to the end of the chains.

  1. Measure the distance (C) from the primary conveyor belt surface to the primary conveyor frame.

  1. Turn the machine ON and enable the electrical circuit. Slowly raise the front leg columns until the weight detaches from the ground.

  1. Measure distance (C) again. When correctly tensioned, the secondary conveyor belt has a deflection of 80 mm (3.14 inch).

If the deflection value is more than 80 mm (3.14 inch), use the following procedure in order to restore the needed value:

      Illustration 5g03682916

    1. Loosen locknuts (7) .

    1. Turn adjusting screw (8) in order to acquire the desired deflection (C) of 80 mm (3.14 inch).

    1. Adjust both sides of the conveyor with the same amount of adjustment at the same time.

Note: Observe the tracking of the belt. The belt will track toward the side that needs additional tension. Tighten the tension on the side of conveyor that the belt tracks towards.
