Conversion Procedure
(1) Measure from the back of the test box and cut each lead of the test harness so it is 8" (203.2) long.
(2) Remove the six screws (1) that fasten control panel (2) in position, and remove the control panel from test box (3). Remove the wire protection cover from the test harness that has 19 wires.
NOTICE |
---|
Be careful to not damage the wires within the test harness at removal of the protective cover. |
(3) Use a sharp chisel and remove the plate that divides the two compartments at the rear of test box (3). Use a grinder to remove and clean area (A) where the plate was fastened in position. Make hole (B) larger to a size of 1.375" Ø (34.9 Ø).
(4) Use receptacles (4) and (5) as templates (guides) as shown, and make a mark on panel (6) for each of the eight holes (C) for the receptacles. Drill a .12" Ø (3.0 Ø) hole at the location of each mark. Thoroughly clean the inside of the test box of all metal shavings and chips.
(5) Put control panel (2) in its original position in test box (3) and at the same time put 19 wire lead (7) through hole (B) and 2 wire lead (8) through hole (D).
(6) Use rosin core solder and connect the wires of the leads to the connectors on receptacles (4) and (5). Connect the wires to the connector terminals according to the chart that follows.
(7) Pull control panel (2) out of test box (3). Put receptacles (4) and (5) in position in panel (6). Use the 4-40 x 3/8" bolts with lockwashers and nuts to fasten the receptacles to panel (6). Put control panel (2) in position in test box (3) and install the six screws (1) that fasten the control panel to the test box.
Receptacle Test Procedure
NOTE: Use a 24V DC power supply to test the receptacles.
Test for MS3102A24-7P Receptacle 5
(1) Connect the negative (-) lead from the power supply to the INPUT POWER ground (-) on the control panel. Put the GROUND switch in the ON position and the POWER and SELECTOR switches in the OFF position.
(2) Use the positive (+) lead from the power supply and touch (make contact with) each pin (one at a time) on the connector. The tester light for the pin that is touched must be the only light that comes on.
Test for MS3102A10SL-4P Recptacle 4
(1) Connect the negative (-) and positive (+) leads from the power supply to the negative (-) and positive (+) connections of the INPUT POWER terminal on the control panel. Put all switches of the tester in the OFF position.
(2) Connect a separate voltmeter to the two pins on the receptacle. When the SOLENOID button is pushed in, the separate volt meter must read 24V.
When the test results for both receptacles are the same as given in the two separate test procedures, any of the test harnesses (5P6597, 5P6598 or 5P8561) that are used with the 5P6590 Wiring Harness Tester, can now be used with the 1P3550 Wiring Harness Tester.
