Typical ET screen

When an abnormal operating condition occurs, the status screen on Ca ET will indicate that there is an active event. Event codes on Ca ET are displayed in the following format:

EXXXX Description of the code

The "E" means that the code is an event code. The "XXXX" is a numeric identifier. The numeric identifier is followed by a description of the code.

Active event codes are listed in ascending numerical order. The code with the lowest number is listed first. The active event code is removed from the list when the condition is no longer present.

Some event codes are logged in the ECM memory. Some event codes are active only. The logged event codes are listed in chronological order. The most recent code is listed first.

A logged code is cleared from memory when one of the following conditions occur:

  • The service technician manually clears the code.

  • The code does not reoccur for 1000 hours.

  • A new code is logged and there are already ten logged codes in memory. In this case, the oldest logged code is cleared.

Note: Always clear logged event codes after investigating and correcting the problem which generated the code.

Logged events are provided with an indicator which is used to record recurring or intermittent events. The data for the logged event shall include the following items: an event identifier (EID), a text description of the event, the number of occurrences of the event, a time stamp that shows the time that the event first occurred and a time stamp that shows the time that the event has most recently occurred .

Note: The following table is for reference only.

Table 2
Event Codes
Code (Level)     Description     Machine Response/Possible Cause
E157 (1)     Engine #1 Failure to Start     Event will log after third unsuccessful start engine attempt.
E192 (1)     Steering System Malfunction     Logged when steering wheel sensor readings differ between the Master and the Station control.
E370 (1)     Screed Material Height Sensor Change During Operation     Material height sensor type changes while the machine is moving. Machine control assumes that previous material height sensor is installed until the machine is brought to a stop.
E371 (1)     Operator Station Change while Machine in Motion     The selected active operator station changes while the machine is operating. Machine control assumes that previous operator station is active until the machine brought to a stop.
E372 (1)     Machine Operating in Open Loop     Machine is operated without calibrating the propel solenoids or a failure occurs during operation causing the system to exit closed loop control.
E373 (1)     Machine Not Stopped in Allotted Time     Machine motion still detected after operator issues stop command. If machine motion is present after a timer elapses, the event is activated and parking brake is applied.
E374 (1)     Feeder Switches in Manual Position at Startup     Feeder, auger, or conveyor switches are in the manual position on startup.
E376 (1)     Gear Change with Propel Lever Not in Neutral     Propel mode is switched from a low speed (Pave or Maneuver) to a high speed (Travel) setting. Or propel mode is in reverse order with the propel lever out of neutral.
E395 (1)     Transmission Stall Condition     Machine motion not detected after operator issues start command. If machine motion is not present after a timer elapses, the event is activated.
E523 (1)     Unable to Determine Rotation Direction of Left Drive Motor     Machine control is unable to detect the rotational direction of the left drive motor. This event code could be due to a speed sensor failure or improperly installed speed sensor.
E524 (1)     Unable to Determine Rotation Direction of Right Drive Motor     Machine control is unable to detect the rotational direction of the right drive motor. This event code could be due to a speed sensor failure or improperly installed speed sensor.
E627 (1)     Parking Brake Applied with Machine in Motion     Parking Brake Abuse. Parking brake engaged while in propel mode and the wheels are rotating.
E718 (1)     Screed Height Adjustment Switch Not In Hold Position At Inappropriate Time     Engine start lock
Logs when the screed is in "float" mode when the engine is started.
E772 (1)     Conveyor Material Height Sensor Changed During Operation     Status change for left & right conveyor sonic input
Logs when the input changes state while the machine is moving.
E773 (1)     Left Conveyor Material Height Sensor Signal Out of Range     Logs when the sensor output is out of range.
E774 (1)     Right Conveyor Material Height Sensor Signal Out of Range     Logs when the sensor output is out of range.
E861 (1)     Clock Manual Adjustment Required     The ECM internal clock is also known as an electronic service hour meter. An hour meter is too far out of alignment with the other ECM hour meters.
Use Cat ET to synchronize the ECM hour meters. At the top menu, click on "Service", and "Synchronize Service Hour Meters" from the drop-down menu. Next, click the "Synchronize" button to synchronize all the service hour meters on the machine. A pop-up dialog box will inform you of a successful synchronization of each ECM.
E2072 (1)     Screed Left Material Height Sensor Signal Out of Range     Left sonic sensor signal was out of range indicating the sensor was set up improperly.
E2073 (1)     Screed Right Material Height Sensor Signal Out of Range     Right sonic sensor signal was out of range indicating the sensor was set up improperly.
E2074 (1)     Engine Shutdown Due to Diagnostic     Machine controller detects a diagnostic code causing the ECM to shut down the engine.
