Usage:
3516 (4MJ) Marine Engine
Description of Change: A new exhaust manifold group is used. The new manifold group has spring energized seals between the cylinder head and exhaust manifold. Formerly, gaskets were used between the cylinder head and exhaust manifold. The spring energized seals will help prevent exhaust leaks.
A new exhaust elbow and seal rings are used in the air lines group. The seal rings go between turbocharger exhaust outlet and the exhaust elbow. The new seal rings will help prevent exhaust leaks.
Adaptable To: The new 1003144 Exhaust Manifold Group replaces the former 6I4328 Exhaust Manifold Group. The new group is in effect with 3516 Marine Engine 4MJ46. The new components identified in Illustration 1 and Chart A, when used together, can be added to former manifold group.

The tightening procedure for the bolts that fasten the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head has not changed. Put a coat of 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on bolt threads and tighten all the bolts to a torque of 47 ± 5 N·m (35 ± 4 lb ft). Then tighten all the bolts again to a torque of 47 ±5 N·m (35±4 lb ft).
The new components in the 4P3696 Air Lines Group are identified in Illustration 2 and Chart B. The new components are in effect with 3516 Marine Engine 4MJ46. The new components, when used together are a direct replacement for the former component.
