Machines Equipped With Electric Horns
Reference: Service Magazine; April 2, 1990; Page 3; "Correct Replacement Of Forward Warning Horns" for machines equipped with electric horns.
The electrical contacts in the 7T0969 and 7T0970 Horn Assemblies are metal to provide long life. Over a relatively long period of time, this metal can sometimes oxidize causing an open circuit. If the horn is dead at predelivery or after a machine has set for a period of one or more months, try the following.
Tap the horn sharply with a hammer HANDLE while someone else holds the horn button ON. If the contacts are oxidized, the horn will begin to operate correctly and provide satisfactory service until the machine is again parked for a long period. If the horn does not operate when tapped, it should be replaced.
