Hydraulic System Oil and Filters - Change

Usage:

Cat HYDO Advanced 10 Oil Change Interval

The standard Cat HYDO Advanced 10 oil change interval is every 3000 service hours or 2 years.

Procedure to Change the Hydraulic Oil

    (1) Charge filter
    (2) Hydraulic oil level gauge
    (3) Hydraulic tank cap
    (4) Return filter indicator
    (5) Return filter

  1. Remove hydraulic tank cap (3) in order to relieve pressure from the hydraulic system.

    (6) Material feed filter
    (7) Drain hose

  2. The drain hose (7) for the hydraulic tank is located in the right side access door. Remove the plug from the drain hose, and drain the hydraulic oil into a suitable container.

    Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information on containing fluid spillage.

  3. Remove the cover for the charge filter (1). Remove the charge filter.

  4. Remove the return filter cover (5). Remove the return filter.

  5. Remove material feed filter (6).

  6. Install the drain plug.

  7. Install a new charge filter. Install the cover for the charge filter (1).

  8. Install a new return filter. Install the return filter cover (5).

  9. Install a new material feed filter (6).

  10. Fill the hydraulic tank. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the correct refill capacity.

  11. Install hydraulic tank cap (3).

  12. Start the engine. Run the engine for a few minutes. Check the hydraulic filters for leaks.

  13. Stop the engine.

  14. Repair the leaks that were found.

  15. Maintain the oil between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on oil level gauge (2).
