Sudden movement of the tilt cylinders and/or rotator is possible if the tilt and rotate functions are not disconnected. Sudden movement of the tilt cylinders and/or rotator could result in serious injury or death. When checking and/or adjusting any of the harvester head pressures, the tilt circuit solenoids must be disconnected. If equipped, the rotate circuit solenoids must also be disconnected. |
Introduction
The saw bar position sensor sends an electrical pulse to the computer aided bucking system as the saw bar rotates. The sensor indicates the amount of rotation of the saw bar. The amount will be sufficient to cut through the tree. The computer aided bucking system automatically retracts the saw bar after the cut.
The saw bar position sensor senses the location of the sensor wheel that is connected to the gear on the saw unit. The saw bar position sensor sends an electrical signal to the computer aided bucking system when the saw bar rotates.
The computer aided bucking system will indicate the status of the saw bar on the display screen. If the saw bar rotates and an error is indicated, the sensor may need adjustment.
Adjustment Procedure
- Prepare the machine for test and adjust procedures. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Preparation for Troubleshooting".
- Lower the harvester head to the ground. Stop the engine. Turn the switch for the computer aided bucking system to the ON position.
- Loosen locknut (2). Gently adjust the sensor until the sensor contacts sensor wheel (3). Unscrew the sensor half a turn.

- Tighten locknut (2) to a torque of 10 N·m (90 lb in).
- Start the engine and run the engine at low idle. Run the saw one time. If the sensor is adjusted, no error message is indicated on the computer aided bucking system when the saw bar rotates.
