- Off-Highway Truck:
- 797F (S/N: LAJ1-UP)
Description of Change: The plate assemblies that are part of the drive shaft guard group have been trimmed. The new shape of the parts will prevent contact between the drive shaft guard group and the transmission and the torque converter. The new shape of the parts will help prevent damage to the transmission and the torque converter from the contact with drive shaft guard group.
Adaptable To: The improved 336-7751 Drive Shaft Guard Gp is now used on the 797F Off-Highway Truck. The improved 336-7751 Drive Shaft Guard Gp is adaptable to machines LAJ1-175. The improved drive shaft guard group became effective in production with the machine LAJ176-UP.
The 336-7751 Drive Shaft Guard Gp that is part machines LAJ1-175 can be updated to the improved design. Use the following procedure to update earlier drive shaft guard groups to the improved design.
- Permit only one operator on the machine. Either keep other personnel away from the machine, or keep other personnel in the sight of the operator.
- Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move the machine away from any machines that are working and any personnel.
- Move the transmission control to the PARK position.
- Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.
- Install the truck body retaining cable.
- By use of a suitable lifting device, remove the drive shaft guard group from the machine. The drive shaft guard group weighs approximately 82 kg (181 lb).
