Heat Exchanger (Sea Water)

Usage:

Remove & Install Heat Exchanger (Sea Water)

Start By:

a. remove alternator

------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, the engine cooling system is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap on the expansion tank is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.

--------WARNING!------

1. Drain the heat exchanger by opening valve (13).

2. Disconnect two wires (4).

3. Disconnect two tubes (3).

4. Loosen two clamps (5).

5. Slide hose (2) up tube (1) away from the heat exchanger.

6. Loosen clamp (7).

7. Disconnect hose (10).

8. Loosen clamp (11).

9. Disconnect hose (12).

10. Disconnect hose (9). Cap and plug immediately.

11. Remove two bolts (8) and washers. Move the fuel filter element and base out of the way.

12. Remove bolts (6) and washers.

13. Remove two bolts (14) and washers.

14. Remove two spacers (15).

15. Move two hoses (17) out of the way.

16. Loosen clamp (18).

17. Disconnect hose (16).

18. Disconnect connector (19).

19. Remove four bolts (20) and washers.

20. Loosen clamp (21) and remove hose (22).

21. Remove regulator housing (23).

22. Attach straps and a suitable lifting device to heat exchanger (25).

23. Loosen clamp (26) (not shown) that holds hose (24).

24. Remove hose (24).

25. Remove four bolts (27) and washers.

26. Remove heat exchanger (25) and the bracket as a unit. The weight of the heat exchanger and bracket is 77 kg (170 lb).

27. Remove two spacers (28) from bracket (29).

NOTE: For installation of the heat exchanger, reverse the removal steps.

28. Fill the cooling system to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct filling procedure.
