Charging dimensions for a suspension cylinder which has been purged

Charge with oil ... 25.4 mm (1.00 inch)

Full charge of oil and nitrogen ... 130.5 ± 6.5 mm (5.15 ± 0.25 inch)

(1) Apply a coat of 4C-5593 Anti-Seize Compound to the four pins prior to assembly with the bearings.

Outside diameter of 7D-3009 Pin ... 69.761 ± 0.03 mm (2.7465 ± 0.0012 inch)

Inside diameter of 7J-3297 Bearing ... 69.850 mm +0.00 -0.025 (2.7500 +0.0000 -0.0010 inch)

(2) Position one end of the cover 50.0 mm (1.97 inch) above the top of the chamfer on the bottom of the chrome end. Position the second end of the cover 25.0 mm (0.98 inch) on the cylinder.

(3) Install the bearings so that the separation line (fracture plane) is aligned with the mark that is shown. The mark that is shown is the horizontal centerline of the bearing.

(4) Outside diameter of rod assembly (two lands) ... 213.87 ± 0.13 mm (8.420 ± 0.005 inch)

(5) Inside diameter of cylinder assembly (two lands) ... 215.95 ± 0.10 mm (8.502 ± 0.0039 inch)

(6) Inside diameter of three lands ... 177.88 ± 0.03 mm (7.003 ± 0.001 inch)

(7) Outside diameter of rod assembly ... 177.749 ± 0.050 mm (6.9980 ± 0.0020 inch)

Before installation, apply Loctite Retaining Compound 609 Adhesive to the groove for the lip type seal. Lubricate the sealing lip of the lip type seal with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Note: Approximately 12.0 L (3.17 US gal) of SAE 10W oil with the current service classification is necessary in order to charge a cylinder.

The charging medium for suspension cylinder is dry nitrogen.
