This diagnostic code is associated with the blade sideshift right solenoid. The FMI 13 diagnostic code is activated when the ECM detects a solenoid that needs calibration.
The Implement ECM provides a PWM signal to the solenoid in order to provide proportional control of the solenoid. The ECM will vary the electrical current of the PWM signal, based on the input command that is received from the position sensor for the blade sideshift. The sensor is located in the assembly of the right joystick.
Note: Before performing this procedure, verify that no other active CID 2166 diagnostic codes exist for the solenoid. If any other diagnostic codes are active for the solenoid, correct the problem before performing this procedure.
Test Step 1. CALIBRATION
- Perform the calibration procedure for the solenoid. Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Calibration" section of this manual for the correct calibration procedure.
Expected Result:
The calibration procedure was performed successfully.
Results:
- YES - The calibration procedure was performed successfully. Resume normal machine operationSTOP
- NO - The calibration was not successful.
Repair: Repeat the calibration procedure for the solenoid. If the second calibration procedure is not successful, replace the solenoid. After replacement of the solenoid, refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Calibration" section of this manual for the correct calibration procedure. If the problem is still present after replacement and calibration of the new solenoid, the ECM may have failed.Prior to replacing an ECM, always contact the Technical Communicator at your dealership for possible consultation with Caterpillar. This consultation may greatly reduce repair time. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the ECM. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace".
