Crankshaft Seals

Usage:


Seals And Shipping Sleeves (Before Installing)

Refer to 3114 & 3116 Diesel Truck Engines, Disassembly And Assembly, Form No. SENR6442 for the complete procedure for removing and installing the crankshaft seals.

(1) Rear seal. Install with rear face of seal at dimension (A) from rear block face (4). Dimension (A) ... 15.4 ± 0.5 mm (.61 ± .02 in)

NOTE: Rear seal runs directly on crankshaft flange.

(2) Front seal. Install with front face of seal at dimension (B) from front face of front housing. Dimension (B) ... 2.5 ± 0.5 mm (.10 ± .02 in)

(3) Carrier housing.

(4) Rear face of block.

(5) Front housing.

(6) Pulley.

(7) Shipping sleeve for rear seal. Do not remove sleeve until seal (1) is installed.

NOTE: A wear sleeve for the rear crankshaft flange is available separately for use in salvaging damaged crankshaft flanges.

(8) Shipping sleeve for front seal. Remove sleeve immediately before installing pulley (6).
