Purging the Lubrication Lines for the Automatic Lubrication System
The system may repeatedly malfunction after the reservoir has been emptied. In this case, the grease lines must be purged.
Use the following procedure in order to purge the lines:
- Ensure that there is enough grease in the reservoir.
Note: Before opening the system, for safety, check to see if pressure remains in the system.
- Remove the plugs from the distribution blocks that are at the end of every branch of the lubrication system.
- Turn on the engine start switch.
- Press the test button for at least 6 seconds.
Note: Since the plugs are removed, no grease pressure will build up. When the maximum time expires for the system to pump, the system will automatically move to the other grease line. This process is repeated until the engine start switch is turned off.
- Turn off the engine start switch when no air bubbles come from the grease lines.
- Remount the plugs into the distribution blocks.
- Repeat Step 4, Step 5, and Step 6 until all of the branches of the lubrication system are purged.
- Run a single test cycle in order to check that the lubrication system functions correctly.
Purging the Reservoir for the Automatic Lubrication System
The system may repeatedly malfunction after the reservoir has been emptied. If the reservoir needs purging, perform the following procedure.
- After the pump has stopped working the pump will be showing one of the problems "6", "7", or "8". Refer to Systems Operation, "Lubrication System".
- Disconnect hoses (2A) and (2B) from the output ports on lubrication pump (1). Move the hoses aside.
- Connect a connector for filling the reservoir to the output line (2B). The connector for filling the reservoir can be assembled locally. Refer to Illustration 1.
Note: This procedure requires a clean environment because no filter is available for filling through one of the outlets.
Note: The pump should not be connected electrically. Disconnect the electrical connector from the pump.

- Refill the grease reservoir through this connector in the same way as normal filling. The advantage of fresh grease near the pistons that pump the grease will make the pump easier to purge the air from the reservoir.
- After having refilled the reservoir, remove the connector for filling the reservoir and reconnect the pump to the wiring harness from the machine.
- Keep the output lines for the grease (2A) and (2B) disconnected.
- Switch on the ignition.

Illustration 2 g01784073 Typical example - Perform a Continuous Cycle test. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Automatic Lubrication System - Test"
- Start a continuous test cycle by pushing the test button longer than 6 seconds. Allow the pump to run until fresh grease is leaving both outlets.
- When only grease exits from the output ports, interrupt the test cycle by switching off the ignition.

Illustration 3 g01784113 Typical example - Reconnect hoses (2A) and (2B) to lubrication pump (1).
- Switch on the ignition. Perform a Single Cycle test in order to check that the automatic lubrication system is operating correctly. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Automatic Lubrication System - Test". If the automatic lubrication system is operating correctly, leave the ignition on. Set the duty cycle to the heavy setting. Allow the automatic lubrication system to operate for a minimum of 40 minutes before switching off the ignition. The automatic lubrication system will perform at least two cycles. ( The heavy-duty cycle is set for the least time interval between lubrication cycles.) This process will allow the automatic lubrication system to reset.
