- Remove the steering accumulator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Accumulator - Remove".
NOTICE |
---|
Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
Hydraulic accumulator contains gas and oil under high pressure. Improper removal or repair procedures could cause severe injury. To remove or repair, instructions in the service manual must be followed. Special equipment is required for testing and charging. |
Personal injury can result from the sudden release of high pressure oil. Be sure the engine has been shut off for a minimum of five minutes to ensure that the accumulator pressure is zero. The accumulator is filled with dry nitrogen. Do not loosen or remove the valve or the cap from the top of the accumulator. |
- Before the disassembly procedure, use Tooling (A) in order to verify that accumulator (1) is completely discharged.
