Installation of Improved Fuel Lines on Landfill Compactors{1274} Caterpillar

Landfill Compactor:

836G (S/N: 7MZ1-UP; BRL1-UP)

Introduction

This Special Instruction provides information on replacing the fuel lines. Higher abrasion resistant hose is now used. The new hose will improve the durability of the fuel line.

Do not perform any procedure in this publication or order any parts until you understand the information that is contained in this publication.

Machine Preparation

1. Move the machine to a surface that is smooth, hard, and level. Move the machine to an area that is away from operating machines and away from personnel.

2. Install blocks on the front and the rear of the front wheels.

3. Install the steering frame lock.

Note: Use the same routing as the previous fuel line. Also make sure that the new fuel lines are not rubbing on any surface.

Location of Hose Assemblies

1. Remove old hose assemblies.

2. Reuse the clips that are in good condition. Replace worn clips with 8M-2773 Clips .

3. Install 267-8853 Hose Assembly (1), 268-2977 Hose Assembly (2), and 267-8854 Hose Assembly (3) on the machine.

   Note: Orient 267-8853 Hose Assembly (1) and 268-2977 Hose Assembly (2) at the angle that is shown in Illustration 3.

4. Install 2W-2494 Spacer (4), 9M-1974 Hard Washer (5), and 1B-2713 Bolt (6) on the machine.

Location of Hose Assemblies

1. Remove the old hose assemblies.

2. Reuse the clips that are in good condition. Replace worn clips.

3. Install 257-4155 Hose Assembly (1), 267-8850 Hose Assembly (2), 240-2015 Hose Assembly (3), 267-8849 Hose Assembly (4), and 255-1257 Hose Assembly (5) on the machine.

   Note: Orient 240-2015 Hose Assembly (3) at the angle that is shown in Illustration 6.

4. Install 7T-0266 Bracket Assembly (9) on the machine. Also install 067-2551 Clip (6), two 5M-2894 Hard Washers (7), 0L-1356 Bolt (8), and 0S-1588 Bolt (10) on the machine.

5. Install 0S-0948 clip (11) on the machine. Orient 0S-0948 clip (11) in the position that is shown in Illustration 7.

3. Install 266-2872 Hose Assembly (1), 267-8847 Hose Assembly (2), 267-8845 Hose Assembly (3), 267-8846 Hose Assembly (4), and 166-7952 Hose Assembly (5) on the machine.

4. Install 1S-6420 Clip (6) on the machine.

5. Install 0S-1594 Bolt (7), two 5M-2894 Hard Washers (8), and 9S-8752 Full Nut (9) on the machine.

Note: Use the same routing as the previous fuel line. Also make sure that the new fuel lines are not rubbing on any surface.

Location of Hose Assemblies

1. Remove old hose assemblies.

2. Reuse the clips that are in good condition. Replace worn clips with 067-2551 Clips .

3. Install 030-7962 Elbow (1) on the machine.

4. Install 255-1254 Hose Assembly (2), 255-1257 Hose Assembly (6), 255-1255 Hose Assembly (7), 240-2015 Hose Assembly (8), and 255-1256 Hose Assembly (9) on the machine.

5. Install 0S-1591 Bolt (3), two 5M-2894 Hard Washers (4), and 067-2551 Clip (5) on the machine.
