    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.


  1. Install valve (31), spacer (32), spring (33), and cap (34). Tighten cap (34) to a torque of 85 ± 10 N·m (63 ± 7 lb ft).

  2. Install relief valve (29).

  3. Install plate (28). Install bolts (27).

  4. Install sensor (25). Install drains (24) and (26). Tighten drains (24) and (26) to a torque of 35 ± 8 N·m (26 ± 6 lb ft).

  5. Install modulating valve (22). Install bolts (23). Install hose assembly (21).

  6. Repeat Step 5 for the remaining modulating valve.

  7. Install harness assembly (19). Connect harness assembly (19). Install cable straps (20).

  8. Install ball (15), spring (16), and retainer (17), into spool (11). Use Tooling (B) in order to install retaining ring (18).

  9. Install slug (14) into spool assembly (11).

  10. Install spool assembly (11), spring (12), and load piston (13).

  11. Position cover (10). Install Tooling (A). Tighten Tooling (A) until bolts (9) can be installed. Tighten bolts (9). Remove Tooling (A).

  12. Install O-ring seal (8) into cover (7).

  14. Position relief valve (6). Install bolts (5). Install hose assemblies (4) and (3).

  15. Install O-ring seals (2).

  16. Install sleeve (1).

End By:

  1. Install the transmission hydraulic control. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission Hydraulic Control - Install".
