Troubleshooting Poor Accuracy

Problem List

  • The finished grade has incorrect slope

  • The finished grade is level but offset from desired grade

Probable Causes

The finished grade has incorrect slope

  • Incorrect slope entered on display

  • Incorrect slope entered on laser transmitter

  • The laser transmitter needs to be calibrated

  • Inclinometer is out of calibration

  • Cylinder sensors are out of calibration

  • Swing sensor is out of calibration

  • The incorrect work tool is active

  • The incorrect coupler is active

  • Incorrect orientation of transmitter with respect to the machine or incorrect orientation of the machine with respect to the transmitter while digging

  • Incorrect orientation of transmitter with respect to the machine or incorrect orientation of the machine with respect to the transmitter when benchmark set

  • The laser transmitter needs to be calibrated

  • Inclinometer is out of calibration

  • Cylinder sensors are out of calibration

  • Swing sensor is out of calibration

  • The incorrect work tool is active

  • The incorrect coupler is active

  • The electric mast is out of calibration

  • The incorrect layer mode is active

  • Incorrect depth entered on display

  • Incorrect measurement units selected

  • The laser beam is unstable

  • The laser transmitter setup is not secure

  • The laser transmitter is not setup in a proper location

  • Multiple laser transmitters operating in the same area

  • The laser receiver is detecting reflections or stray light sources

Troubleshooting Erratic Elevation

Problem List

The grade indicators are changing erratically.

Probable Causes

The Grade Indicators are Changing Erratically or have Poor Accuracy

  • The laser beam is unstable

  • The laser receivers are detecting reflections or stray light sources

  • The laser transmitter setup is not secure

  • The laser transmitter is not setup in a proper location

  • The laser transmitter battery needs to be charged

  • The laser transmitter needs to be calibrated

  • Tolerance has been set to tigh

  • Cylinder sensor failure

  • Inclinometer

  • Excessive worktool (tooth) wear

  • Excessive pin wear

Troubleshooting the Laser Receiver

Problem List

The laser receiver is not detected

Probable Causes

The Laser Receiver Is Not Detected

  • Wire harness damaged

  • Wire connectors not tight

  • CAN terminators not installed correctly

  • Laser Receiver not installed
