Introduction

This TIB lists the improvements that have been made on the engine compartment for landfill compactors.

Problem

Debris from trash can collect in the engine compartment on landfill compactors. If the engine compartment is not cleaned at the proper intervals, the excess flammable debris can come in contact with hot engine components. This can result in a fire in the engine compartment. Improvements to the engine compartment have been made in order to reduce the possibility of this occurring. However, the best prevention is routine maintenance and cleaning of the engine compartment.
