A guard is available for the fuel level sender. The guard protects the wire leading from the fuel level sender from accidental damage.
Adaptable To: A 289-4763 Guard is available for the 283-5595 Fuel Level Sender .
The 283-5595 Fuel Level Sender is a direct replacement of the former 244-1943 Fuel Level Sender. The 283-5595 Fuel Level Sender is effective 735 (S/N: B1N467-UP), 740 (S/N: B1P1167-UP) and 740 EJECTOR (S/N: B1R227-UP).
The 289-4763 Guard is effective 735 (S/N: B1N489-UP), 740 (S/N: B1P1226-UP) and 740 EJECTOR (S/N: B1R231-UP).
The 289-4763 Guard is directly adaptable to all earlier machines that are listed.

To adapt the 289-4763 Guard, the cover over the fuel tank needs to be modified. The modification is required in order to ensure that the cover does not foul the guard when the cover is lifted. Refer to Illustration 2 and Table 1 for the cutout that is required in the cover.

To install 289-4763 Guard (2), remove the two bolts from the fuel level sender that are on either side of the wire leading from the fuel level sender. Discard the two bolts, but retain the washers. Install the guard with two new 9X-2480 Bolts (1), the washers and two 132-2249 Spacers (3).
