AccuGradeTM - Grade Control System (GPS/ATS/Sonic/Cross Slope) Caterpillar

Flashing Messages

Usage:

12H AMZ
The AccuGrade System generates warning messages in situations where you need to take some action. The action ensures that the system continues to provide accurate guidance information. These warning messages are also written to the "ProgramLog.txt" file. Table 3 lists the GPS status messages.

Table 1
ATS Warning Messages
Message     Problem     Solution
"No ATS Data"     The ATS is not currently operating as part of the AccuGrade System.     Start the ATS and check that it is locked onto the target.
"Check Machine Radio"     The system cannot communicate with the data radio on the machine.

Check that the radio is powered. Check the cable to the radio.
"Check ATS Radio"     The system cannot communicate with the data radio for the ATS.     Check that the radio is powered. Check the cable to the radio.
"Check ATS Battery"     The system detected that the ATS battery is low.     Replace the battery with a fully charged one.
"Level ATS"     The tilt compensator on the ATS is out of range.     Level the ATS mount.
"Search For Machine Target"     The ATS lost lock on the target, or was unable to acquire the target after searching.     Check that there is a clear line of sight to between the ATS and the target, that the target is within range of the ATS, and that the machine is within the search window.
Inspect the rubber isolators on the shock mount for wear (cracks or tears). Replace the rubber isolators.
"Bench ATS"     The target needs to be benched because the ATS height was not entered when the instrument was set up.     Bench the target.

Table 2
GPS Warning Messages
GPS Status Message     Problem     Possible Cause     Solution
"No GPS Receiver Data"     There has been no GPS data coming from one or both GPS receivers for at least 1.5 seconds.     A problem with a GPS receiver     Check the cable, power, and connections. Check the physical condition of the GPS receivers.
Turn off the Display and then turn the Display back on.
If problems continue, contact your supervisor.
A cabling fault, or a problem with a GPS receiver configuration.
"No GPS Data (Right)"     Positions are being generated for the left GPS receiver but not for the right.     This could be caused by a cabling fault, or a problem with the GPS receiver configuration.     Check the cable, power, and connections for the right receiver.
If problems continue, contact your supervisor.
"Low Accuracy (Move)"     The machine has not travelled far enough in its current direction to determine machine pitch and heading.
"Low Accuracy (GPS)"     The GPS error estimate has exceeded the limit set by the GPS Accuracy Mode.         Change your GPS Accuracy Mode.
Check the data radio and radio cable.
Consult your supervisor to adjust the accuracy limits.
"V.Low Accuracy (GPS)"     The AccuGrade System is receiving autonomous GPS positions from one or both GPS receivers.         Check the data radio and base station.
"Old Position"     A position is not being generated by one, or both, GPS receivers         Check the GPS receivers and cables.
"Invalid GPS Configuration"     There is a problem with a GPS receiver output configuration. The coordinate system may be missing from a GPS receiver configuration.         Load a design. Doing so will send a valid GPS configuration file to the GPS receivers. Alternately, see your supervisor.
There is a GPS data but the data is in the wrong format, or the baud rate is incorrect.

Table 4 lists other device warning messages.

Table 3
Other Device Warning Messages
Message     Problem     Solution
"Check Left EM"     The system cannot communicate with the left electric mast.     Check cables. Check the status of the mast in the Diagnostics dialog. Check if you can raise or lower the mast from the ATS dialog.
"Check Right EM"     The system cannot communicate with the right electric mast.     Check cables. Check the status of the mast in the Diagnostics dialog. Check if you can raise or lower the mast from the ATS dialog.
"Check Rotation Sensor"     No data is being received from the rotation sensor. Automatic controls will be disabled and no vertical guidance will be provided.     Check cables. Rotate the blade so that it is perpendicular to the machine then check the status of the rotation sensor in the Diagnostics dialog.

Table 5 lists messages that relate to general operation of the AccuGrade System.

Table 4
General Warning Messages
Flashing Message     Reason     Solution
"Avoid Zone Entered"     You have entered an Avoidance Zone. This is an area that has been designated as hazardous or otherwise undesirable for machine operation.     Use Plan View in order to guide your machine out of the Avoidance Zone.
"Loading Data"     The Display is loading the current design information.
The Display is loading the Layered Lift surface.
Wait for the message to stop. The message will disappear after a short period of time.
"Check M/C Dimensions"     The set of dimensions that has been entered is incomplete, or inconsistent with a machine dimension that can be measured by the system. For example, the distance between the two receivers in a dual- GPS system has not been entered or not correct.     Restore a suitable machine settings file.
Ask your supervisor to enter the correct measurements.
"Check Machine Type"     The stored machine settings are invalid.     Restore the correct machine settings file or ask your supervisor to correct the system configuration.

Table 6 lists the automatic controls messages relating to the AccuGrade System.

Table 5
Automatic Controls Warning Messages
Message     Indicates     Solution
"No Design Loaded"     No design is loaded.
The previously loaded design may not be on the data card.
The card has been removed while the file is loading.
Load a design, or check that the card containing the design is still inserted.
"Off Design"     While in the Auto state, one or both blade tips are outside of the area that is covered by the design for more than 3 seconds.     Drive back onto the design.
If required, switch the system to the Auto state.
"Off Grade"     While in the Auto state, one or both blade tips are above or below the working surface by more than half the vertical tolerance for longer than 3 seconds.     Adjust the vertical offset to a suitable setting. Pass over the area again.
"Check Valve Module"     The system cannot communicate with the Valve Module.     Check cabling and power to the Valve Module.
"Out of the Auto Range"     The blade tips have moved above or below the working surface by more than 0.2 m (0.66 ft).
The automatic controls are set to the Inactive-Auto state.
Adjust the vertical offset. Move the blade onto the design surface. Set the Auto/Manual switch to Auto.
"Low Accuracy (Move)"     The system does not have any reliable machine pitch data. Re-initialize the machine     Re-initialize the machine orientation.
Initialize single-3D sensor orientation and pitch for the machine.
For dual-GPS machines, Initialize a dual-GPS pitch for the machine.
"No controls Data"     No automatic controls information is being received.     Check all cable connections.
View the Diagnostics dialog to check that all devices are responding.
