"Valve Speed" Menu

Use the "Valve Speed" Menu to adjust the response time of the valve. If the blade is over correcting causing short waves in the material, adjust the blade speed down. If the blade is causing long rolling waves, adjust the blade speed up. The default value is 100.

NOTICE

If the valve speed is adjusted too high the AccuGrade - Grade Control System will over correct during blade movement and produce an uneven grade.

If the valve speed is adjusted too low the AccuGrade - Grade Control System will not correct blade movement fast enough resulting in an uneven grade.

Refer to Illustration 9 for an example of the profile of the grade versus the valve speed adjustment.

Illustration 9g01086253

Adjustment of the "Valve Speed" is needed when the lift appears to be too slow or too fast.

Increase the "Valve Speed" if the lift LED's remain in the raise or lower amber color for a long duration of 2 seconds or more.

Decrease the "Valve Speed" if the lift LED's pass through the green on grade and go into the amber color and the lift is erratic.

Note: Adjust the valve speed in incremental changes of 2 to 5 percent.

Refer to "Elevation Speed" for information on calibrating the "Elevation Speed".

  • "Elevation Offset" Menu

Use the "Elevation Offset" Menu to set the amount each toggle of the Remote Offset switch increases or decreases the displayed reference elevation and the elevation of the blade. The right or left offset switch is used dependent on which side of the blade is controlled by the elevation device.

Note: This setting only affects the offset change caused by the remote "Elevation Offset" switch. Toggling a "Menu Scroll" Switch (2,3) on the Display when in Guidance Mode always changes the elevation offset by 1.00 mm (0.04 inch).

To customize the elevation offset increment, complete the following steps:

  • "Slope Offset" Menu

Use the "Slope Offset" Menu to set the amount each toggle of the Remote Offset switch increases or decreases the displayed reference slope. The right or left remote offset switch is used dependent on which side of the blade Cross Slope is being controlled.

Note: This setting only affects the offset change caused by the remote offset switch. Toggling a "Menu Scroll" Switch (2,3) on the Display when in Guidance Mode always changes the slope offset by 1 mm (0.1 feet or .01 percent). The "Menu Scroll" Switch (2,3) does not allow the slope number to go through zero to achieve a negative slope. This action is obtained by reversing the direction of the "Blade Slope Direction" Switch (6). Using the remote offset switch to set the slope permits you to go through zero in order to achieve a negative slope.

In order to customize the slope offset increment, complete the following steps:

  1. From the "Customize" Menu, toggle a "Menu Scroll" Switch (2,3) until Offset is highlighted.

The "Linked Elevation Adjustment" Menu is only available for a dual-mast system in Linked Elevation mode. Use the "Linked Elevation Adjustment" Menu to fine tune the blade slope. That is, if an error exists on the surface due to incorrect blade slope, enter the amount of error into the "Linked Elevation Adjustment" Menu to compensate. Uneven blade wear can cause a blade slope error.

Note: To detect the blade slope error, cut a pass to grade, turn the machine around 180 percent, and check if the blade is still parallel to the grade.

Note: The masts must be calibrated before a Linked Elevation adjustment is made. A Linked Elevation calibration is done when the masts are installed or serviced.

Valve Calibration

Illustration 56g01145060

Illustration 57g01145062

A valve calibration must be completed because most Pulse Width Modulated valves have loose manufacturing tolerances. Each valve will respond differently to a given command. A valve calibration determines the way that the valve responds to a given command. A valve calibration will determine the velocity of the blade when a command is given in order to drive the valves at a specific percent. Additionally, a valve calibration will create a curve (valve) for use in automatic tuning of the valve drives.

Refer to the following steps in order to access the Valve Calibration menu:

  1. Turn Box On Toggle to "i".

  1. Access the User Menu by toggling the INC/Dec switch downward until the Sensor Calibration menu is highlighted.

Selecting "Valve Calibration" enables you to begin the Calibration Verification process.

For complete instructions for a Full Sensor Calibration, refer to Systems Operation, Troubleshooting, Testing and Adjusting, RENR8080, "Bank Valve (Grade Control) - Calibrate".
