Oil flow from piston pump (9) enters main control valve (1) at the P1 port. The oil then flows to diverter valve (1ff) and out of the F port to fan drive motor (12) .

Diverter valve (1ff) senses pump pressure and load sensing pressure at the same time. The diverter valve therefore maintains the correct oil flow and pressure for the demand on the fan drive system.

Diverter valve (1ff) will also regulate the flow and the pressure of the oil if a signal is sent from the braking system or the hoist system in order to upstroke piston pump (9) .

Solenoid valve (1m) controls the speed of the fan. Oil flow through the solenoid valve is controlled by two temperature sensors which are connected to the ECM. One temperature sensor monitors the air temperature inside the inlet manifold of the engine. Another temperature sensor monitors the temperature of the engine coolant in the top rail of the engine.

The solenoid valve proportionally restricts load sensing pressure that is directed to the tank as the temperatures increase. At the same time, the load sensing oil passes through shuttle valve (1cc) and shuttle valve (1gg) and out of the LS1 port to the piston pump. The load sensing pressure then signals the piston pump to upstroke in order to meet the demand of the fan drive system.
