725, 730, 730 EJECTOR, 735, 740 and 740 EJECTOR Articulated Trucks Automatic Lubrication System Caterpillar

General Information

Usage:

725 B1L
The automatic lubrication system is designed to lubricate all grease points that are connected to the automatic lubrication system. Lubrication is delivered on a timed cycle with a predetermined quantity of grease.

The automatic lubrication system consists of the following major components.

  • Lubrication pump with integrated control unit.

  • Lubrication distribution valves with individual metering units for each grease point.

  • An interactive control in the cab with an Independent Signal Lamp.

The automatic lubrication system consists of an electrical and lubrication system. The electrical and lubrication systems function as one unit. The electrical system turns the automatic lubrication system on and off at periodic intervals. These intervals are referred to as lubrication cycles. A control unit in lubrication pump (1) communicates with pressure switch (8) and a level switch (grease) in the lubrication pump. The control unit also communicates with signal lamp (9). The electrical system also controls the parameters of the lubrication system. The operator can change the parameters with a diagnostic tool. The signal lamp is located inside the cab and can be used to change the frequency of grease flow to the grease points. Metering units in lubrication distribution valves (2), (6) and (7) distribute the lubricant to the grease points through the secondary lubrication lines (not shown). The metering units are available in different sizes. Each size delivers a different amount of grease per cycle.

Grease Locations

Measured amounts of grease are supplied by the injectors. Grease supplied from three lubrication distribution valves that are on the tractor, front of the trailer and rear of the trailer. The measured amounts of grease are supplied to the grease points that are identified in Illustration 18 and Illustration 19.

Illustration 18 and Illustration 19 are typical examples for all the machines models. Depending on the configuration of a machine, greasing points for the hoist cylinders, body pivots, and tailgate might not be used.

Refer to Tables 2, to 6 for the sizes and part numbers of the metering units used to supply grease to each of the grease points.
