Start By:

  1. Remove the final drive.

  1. Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to planetary carrier (2) . The weight of planetary carrier (2) is approximately 110 kg (240 lb).

  1. Remove bolts (1) .

  1. Remove planetary carrier (2) and the O-ring seal from the hub.

  1. Remove bolts (4) . Remove covers (3) and the O-ring seals from planetary carrier (2) .

  1. Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press in order to remove shafts (5) from planetary carrier (2) .

  1. Remove planetary gears (6) from planetary carrier (2) .

  1. Remove bearing cones (7) from planetary gears (6) .

  1. Use Tooling (C) in order to remove bearing cups (8) from planetary gears (6) .

  1. Install Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device to planetary carrier (10) . Remove sun gear (9) and planetary carrier (10) from the hub. The weight of sun gear (9) and planetary carrier (10) is approximately 46 kg (101 lb).

  1. Remove Tooling (D) .

  1. Reposition planetary carrier (10) and sun gear (9) .

  1. Use Tooling (G) in order to remove retaining ring (11) from sun gear (9) .

  1. Use two people in order to remove planetary carrier (10) from sun gear (9) . The weight of planetary carrier (10) is approximately 37 kg (82 lb).

  1. Remove bolts (12) and retainers (13) .

  1. Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press in order to remove shafts (15) from planetary carrier (10) .

  1. Remove planetary gears (14) from planetary carrier (10) .

  1. Remove bearing cones (17) from planetary gears (14) .

  1. Remove bearing cups (16) from planetary gears (14) .

  1. Remove ring (19) . Remove bolts (20) and retainer (18) .

  1. Use a suitable magnet in order to remove pins (21) from hub (22) .

  1. Install Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device to hub (22) . Remove hub (22) and ring gear (23) . The weight of hub (22) and ring gear (23) is approximately 80 kg (176 lb).

  1. Remove Tooling (D) .

  1. Reposition hub (22) and ring gear (23) .

  1. Use Tooling (G) in order to remove retaining ring (24) from ring gear (23) .

  1. Remove hub (22) from ring gear (23) .

  1. Install Tooling (E) onto hub (26) .

  1. Use Tooling (E) to loosen hub (26) from spindle (27) .

  1. Remove Tooling (E) .

  1. Remove bearing cone (25) (not shown) from spindle (27) .

  1. Install Tooling (F) and a suitable lifting device to hub (26) . The weight of hub (26) is approximately 280 kg (620 lb).

  1. Remove hub (26) from spindle (27) . Remove Tooling (F) .

  1. Reposition hub (26) .

    Note: Mark Duo-Cone seal (28) for installation purposes.

  1. Remove Duo-Cone seal (28) .

  1. Remove bearing cup (29) from hub (26) .

  1. Reposition hub (26) .

  1. Remove lip seal (31) from hub (26) .

  1. Position spindle (27) .

  1. Remove lip seal (33) and retainer (32) from spindle (27) .

  1. Remove bearing cone (34) and Duo-Cone seal (35) from spindle (27) .
