When the front drive shaft is installed, it must be installed in phase with the front axle assembly yoke. The front drive shaft must be installed in phase with the center and rear drive shafts. Serious component damage could occur. Be certain that all the joint groups, all the yokes, and all the lubricating fittings are aligned. |
- Install support bearing (13).
- Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of bolts (12) prior to installation.
- Install bolts (12) and the nuts.

- Apply Tooling (B) and then apply Tooling (C) to the threads of bolts (9) prior to installation.
- Install eight bolts (9). Tighten bolts (9) to a torque of
300 ± 30 N·m (220 ± 22 lb ft) .Show/hide table

- Install retainer (3) and bolt (2). Tighten bolt (2) to a torque of
475 ± 60 N·m (350 ± 44 lb ft) . - Connect hose assembly (1).
- Lubricate the front drive shaft and drive shaft support bearing. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Drive Shaft Universal Joints, Splines and Bearings - Inspect/Lubricate".
- Check the oil level of the front differential and final drive assemblies. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Differential and Final Drive Oil Level (With Axle Oil Cooler) - Check" or Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Differential and Final Drive Oil Level (Without Axle Oil Cooler) - Check".
