Marine Transmission

Usage:

Remove & Install Marine Transmission

FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENT

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "TOOLS AND SHOP PRODUCT GUIDE, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

1. Remove the starter.

2. Disconnect oil outlet line (2) and inlet line (3). Cap and plug all openings immediately.

3. Install two 5/8 -11 NC Forged Eyebolts(4) and nuts (6) in marine transmission side supports (5) if so equipped. Fasten chains and a suitable lifting device and remove bolts (1).

4. Remove the marine transmission. The weight of the marine transmission is 135 kg (300 lb).

NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the marine transmission.

6. Put 7M-7260 Liquid Gasket Materialon the mounting surface of the marine transmission.

7. Fasten chains and a suitable lifting device to the marine transmission and put it in position on the engine. The weight of the marine transmission is 135 kg (300 lb).

8. Install bolts (1).

9. Connect oil outlet line (2) and inlet line (3).

10. Install the starter

NOTE: See TWIN DISC MG-506, REG00498 and TWIN DISC MG-502, REG01304, for disassembly and assembly of marine transmissions.
