Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Mount housing (12B) on Tooling (A) .

Apply Tooling (F) to the surface of housing (12B) .

Install washer (19) onto housing (12B) . Apply Tooling (F) to washer (19) .

Install seal (20) . Seal (20) must be flush with the end of housing (12B) .

Install housing (12A) on the housing. The weight of housing (12A) is approximately 91 kg (200 lb).

Apply Tooling (F) to rings (17) and install rings (17) .
Note: The split on rings (17) should be installed 90 degrees from each other. Each split should be 45 degrees from the top center of the housing.

Apply Tooling (F) to washer (18) and install washer (18) .

Install retainer (15) . Install the original shim pack (15A) .

Install bolts (14) . Tighten bolts (14) to a torque of 475 ± 20 N·m (350 ± 15 lb ft).

Use Tooling (G) to measure the end play. Adjust shims (15A) to a end play of 0.0254 ± 0.0762 mm (.00100 to .00300 inch).

Use Tooling (C) to install seal (10) . Lubricate the lip of seal (10) with the lubricant that is being sealed. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (11) . Install bearing cup (11) into the housing.

Install O-ring seal (16) .

Rotate the housing onto Tooling (A) .

Lower the temperature of bearing cup (13) . Install bearing cup (13) .

Raise the temperature of bearing cone (21) . Install bearing cone (21) onto shaft (2) .

Use two people to install shaft (2) . The weight of shaft (2) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).

Use two people to install ring gear (8) . The weight of ring gear (8) is approximately 32 kg (70 lb).

Install plates (7) and bolts (6) .
Note: Use new bolts (6) .

Install washer (30) . Use Tooling (D) to install retaining ring (29) in planetary carrier (9) .

Install spacers (26) in gears (27) . Install rollers (25) in gears (27) . Install gears (27) and install washers (28) into planetary carrier (9) .

Install shafts (24) .

Install retainers (23) and bolts (22) .
Note: Use new bolts (22) .

Attach Tooling (C) and Tooling (B) to planetary carrier (9) . Install planetary carrier (9) . The weight of planetary carrier (9) is approximately 68 kg (150 lb).
