Description of Change: A new top piston ring is used in these machine engines. The coating on the face of the new top piston ring is less dense. This will help reduce the wear on the cylinder liner.

Adaptable To: The new 229-1631 Piston Ring (Top) is a direct replacement for the 144-5694 Piston Ring (Top) in 3500 Machine Engines. Table 1 lists the effectivity of the new top piston ring in 3500 Machine Engines with MUI and 3500 Machine Engines with EUI. Table 2 lists the effectivity of the new top piston ring in 3500B Machine Engines. Table 3 lists the effectivity of the new top piston ring in the machines that are powered by these engines.
