- Disconnect the negative battery terminal at the battery.

Illustration 2 g03839068 - Remove bolts (2), electronic control module (3), and the ground strap.
Note: If the electronic control module (ECM) is being replaced, download the personality module before you remove the ECM. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Replacing the ECM".
- Install electronic control module (3) in the reverse order of removal.
