Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Shut OFF the fuel supply to the engine.
- Drain the fuel filter housing. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System Secondary Filter - Replace".

- Disconnect tube assembly (3) and tube assembly (5). Remove elbow assembly (4) and elbow assembly (6).

Illustration 7 g03839700 - Remove bolts (23), cover (24), O-ring seal (22), spring (21), filter retainer (20), and fuel filter element (19).
- Install fuel filter housing (15) in the reverse order of removal.
- Lubricate the bores of fuel filter housing (15) with the lubricant that is being sealed.
- Tighten bolts (17) to a torque of
15 ± 3 N·m (133 ± 27 lb in) . - Lubricate the seals of fuel pressure sensors (2) with the lubricant that is being sealed.
