Turbocharger - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove the air cleaner.

  1. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Coolant System Coolant - Change" for the proper draining and filling procedures.

  2. Remove bolts (2). Disconnect tube assembly (5) from the cylinder block. Remove the tube assembly from turbocharger (1). Remove the O-ring seal from the tube assembly.

  3. Remove bolts (3). Remove tube assembly (4) from turbocharger (1). Remove the O-ring seals from the tube assembly.

  4. Loosen hose clamp (6). Remove hose (7) from turbocharger (1).

  5. Loosen hose clamp (10). Remove hose (11) from turbocharger (1).

  6. Attach a suitable lifting device to turbocharger (1). The weight of turbocharger (1) is approximately 28 kg (62 lb).

  7. Remove locknuts (8). Remove turbocharger (1) from exhaust manifold (9). Remove the turbocharger gasket from the exhaust manifold.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install turbocharger (1) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of the taperlock studs that accept locknuts (8).
