  6. Remove and discard clamp assemblies (15) and bellows (14).

  7. Remove and discard nuts (17). Remove elbow (16) and remove the gasket (not shown).

  8. Remove and discard clamp assemblies (10) and bellows (11). Separate the exhaust manifold sections (9), (12), and (13).

  9. Remove temperature sensors (18).

  10. Repeat Steps 1 through 9 for the other exhaust manifold assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install exhaust manifold assembly (6) in reverse order of removal.

    1. Install new clamp assemblies (10) and new bellows (11). Tighten clamp assemblies (10) to 7.5 ± 1 N·m (66 ± 9 lb in).

    2. Position new bellows (14) with the arrow pointing towards the exhaust cooler. Tighten clamp assemblies (15) to 7.5 ± 1 N·m (66 ± 9 lb in).

Note: Total misalignment for bellows (14) is 1.50 mm (0.06 inch) lateral and 1.50 mm (0.06 inch) axial.

      Torque Sequence

    3. Position the exhaust manifold into place and install Tooling (A) at Location (X).

    4. Apply Tooling (B) on the threads of the new nuts (7). Tighten nuts (7) in the above sequence to a torque of 20 ± 3 N·m (15 ± 2 lb ft). Tighten nuts (7) again in the above sequence to a torque of 38 ± 5 N·m (28 ± 4 lb ft).

    5. Apply Tooling (B) on the threads of the new nuts (17). Tighten nuts (17) to a torque of 35 ± 2 N·m (26 ± 2 lb ft).
