Introduction

The problem that is identified below has a known permanent solution that is currently being developed. Until the permanent solution is available, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

The J1939 Data link on EMCP 3.2 and EMCP 3.3 (CAN1) may cease to communicate with other modules on the data link. This issue happens when the modbus data link is being used in a scenario where there is high modbus SCADA traffic.

Excessive modbus data link traffic with EMCP 3, 2.2 prod software English flash file and EMCP 3.3 or EMCP 3.2 hardware may cause the J1939 (CAN 1) data link to stop working.

Part number for English flash file software is 322-2285 Generator Set Software Gp . Other language flash file part numbers range from 322-2196 to 322-2305.

Solution

In order to determine if generator package is covered by this publication you must have the following conditions satisfied.

The EMCP 3.2 part number should be 300-7646 Generator Set Control Gp or EMCP 3.3 part number should be 300-7647 Generator Set Control Gp .

Any one of the below mentioned generator set software part number must be used.

The customer should be using the modbus SCADA data link on the EMCP 3.

If the unit is affected, The interim corrective action will be to change EMCP software.

Repairing dealers are required to contact Dealer Solution Network (DSN) for approval before performing the procedure in this publication. The repairing dealer should have generator package serial number, engine hours, EMCP 3 part number and EMCP 3 software part number. Once approval is given to perform the change, the Dealer Solution Network (DSN) will provide the proper EMCP software.

A new flash file is being developed as a permanent corrective action and will be available at a future date.
