Removal Procedure

Be sure that the engine cannot be started while service work is being done. This is very important when the engine is equipped with an Automatic Start-Stop System. On engines equipped with an air starting system, close the air supply valve that supplies air to the starter motor before service work is begun. |

- Mark the harness assemblies and disconnect the harness assemblies from governor (1) .
Note: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "General Information (Reference Material)" for more information.

- Disconnect rod assembly (2) (not shown) at the shaft on governor (1) .
- Disconnect the tube assemblies from the governor, if equipped.
- Attach a suitable lifting device to governor (1). The weight of governor (1) is approximately 80 kg (176 lb).
- Remove the bolts that hold governor (1) to the governor drive.
- Lift the governor straight up in order to disengage the governor drive shaft from the coupling.
- Keep the governor in an upright position in order to prevent the loss of oil.
