Removal Procedure

------ WARNING! ------

Be sure that the engine cannot be started while service work is being done. This is very important when the engine is equipped with an Automatic Start-Stop System. On engines equipped with an air starting system, close the air supply valve that supplies air to the starter motor before service work is begun.

NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Mark the harness assemblies and disconnect the harness assemblies from governor (1) .

  1. Disconnect rod assembly (2) (not shown) at the shaft on governor (1) .

  1. Disconnect the tube assemblies from the governor, if equipped.

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to governor (1). The weight of governor (1) is approximately 80 kg (176 lb).

  1. Remove the bolts that hold governor (1) to the governor drive.

  1. Lift the governor straight up in order to disengage the governor drive shaft from the coupling.

  1. Keep the governor in an upright position in order to prevent the loss of oil.
