The External Source Sync (ESS) Terminal Block sits below the External Source Sync Board on the left panel of the Input/Output Cabinet. The terminal block provides a location to wire the external source that is being synced.
The terminal block receives the voltage wires and the sync command wires from the J4 connector on the External Source Sync Board via the fuse block and the J7 External Source Sync Connector.
Removal
- Perform steps in the Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Internal Component Preremoval Steps (4 Input/Output Cabinet)" in order to de-energize the system and gain access to internal components.
- Disconnect the wires that lead to and lead from the terminal block by loosening the wire screws. Refer to Illustration 2. The labels on the wires indicate the location for the wire. Verify the labels on the wires.

- Remove the two cross tip screws that secure the terminal block to the left panel.
Installation
- Slide the terminal block and retaining clips onto the rail.
- Attach the terminal block to the left panel in the position that is indicated in Illustration 1. Use two cross tip screws to attach the terminal block. Refer to Illustration 2.
- Slide the retaining clips to both sides of the terminal block. Fasten the retaining clips in place with a slotted screwdriver.
- Attach wires to the terminal block. The labels on the wires indicate the location for the wire. Refer to Illustration 2.
