Improved Clamping for the Aftercooler Water Line {1380}

Usage:

793B 1HL
Off-Highway Truck/Tractor:
793B (S/N: 1HL1-UP)
793C (S/N: CBR1-UP; 4AR1-UP; ATY1-UP; 4GZ1-UP)

Description of Change: An improved clamping device is available for the aftercooler water line on the above machines. The clamp helps to reduce the movement and the vibration of the water line. Installation of the clamps will extend the life of the O-ring seals that are used to seal the water line.

Adaptable To: The clamps are adaptable to the above machines. The following parts are necessary for installation of the clamp assemblies:

Perform the following procedure. Replace the clamps one at a time.

Removing the Old Clamps

Location of the water line clamps for removal

  1. Remove the bolts that tighten the clamp to the elbow from the old clamp. Remove the clamps.

    Note: Keep the old washers from these bolts. These washers will be used on the bolts for installation of the new clamps.

  1. Remove the ring from the water line.

  1. Thoroughly clean the surrounding area that is around the clamp.

Installing the New Clamps

    Required parts for installation of the new clamping devices

    (1) Ring

    (2) Bolt

    (3) Bolt

    (4) Hard washer

    (5) Full nut

    (6) Clamp assembly

  1. Install ring (1) around the water line.

    Note: Use the old washers for bolts (2) in this Test Step.

  1. Install clamp assemblies (6), bolts (2) and (3), washers (4), and nuts (5) .

  1. Snugly tighten the clamp assembly to the water line.

  1. Tighten the clamp assembly to the elbow.

    Tighten the bolts to the following torque: ... 47 ± 9 N·m (35 ± 7 lb ft)

  1. Tighten the clamp assembly to the water line.

    Tighten the bolts to the following torque: ... 47 ± 9 N·m (35 ± 7 lb ft)
