Installation Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

1. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to engine (28). The weight of engine (28) is approximately 1315 kg (2900 lb).

2. Install the same amount of shims (30) that were removed.

3. Install engine (28).

4. Install the top two bolts (29). Add or remove shims (30) as necessary to maintain a 0.06 ± 0.05 mm (0.002 ± 0.001 inch) gap between the bottom of the flywheel and transmission housing. Install the remainder of bolts (29).

5. Install bolts (27).

6. Connect hose (26) and tighten the clamp.

7. Connect the clips and install bolts (25). Connect harness assemblies (24).

9. Connect hose assembly (21). Install clip (22) and the bolt to the frame.

17. Connect hose assembly (11). Connect the clip and install bolt (10). Connect harness assemblies (9).

18. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to support (7). The weight of support (7) is approximately 36 kg (80 lb).

19. Install support (7). Repeat this step for the opposite side.

20. Install bolts (6). Repeat this step for the opposite side.

21. Install four bolts (5). Repeat this step for the opposite side.

22. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to dash assembly (4). The weight of dash assembly (4) is approximately 68 kg (150 lb).

23. Install dash assembly (4).

24. Install bolt (3). Repeat this step for the opposite side.

25. Install cover (2) and remove bolts (1).

26. Fill the cooling system. The capacity of the cooling system is 47 L (12.4 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7477, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

27. Charge the air conditioner system. Refer to Service Manual, SENR5664, "Air Conditioning and Heating Systems with R-134a Refrigerant" for the correct procedure. Refer to Special Publication, NEDG5065, "Air Conditioning Tools" for the correct tools.

End By:

1. Install the pump drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR4193, "Pump Drive Shaft - Remove and Install".

2. Install the rear chassis support. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rear Chassis Support - Install".
