Installation Procedure

Note: Verify that all of the components of the fan drive are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.

Note: Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

1. Connect fan drive pump (15) to bracket (6). Install bolts (20), and the nuts in order to secure the bracket. The weight of the mounting bracket is approximately 32 kg (70 lb). The weight of the fan drive pump is approximately 82 kg (180 lb).

2. Install Tooling (A) on the bracket, as shown.

3. Install yoke (18) on pump shaft (19).

4. Install bolt (17) in the pump shaft in order to secure yoke (18).

5. Attach Tooling (B) to Tooling (A).

6. Wrap a chain around makeup valve (13). Attach Tooling (B) to the chain.

7. Lift fan drive pump (15) and the bracket into the proper position. Be sure to allow sufficient clearance for frame rail (16). The weight of fan drive pump and bracket as a unit is approximately 113 kg (250 lb).

8. Install bolts (14) that secure mounting bracket (6) to frame rail (16).

9. Remove Tooling (A) and Tooling (B) from fan drive pump (15).

10. Remove Tooling (B) and chain from makeup valve (13).
    Show/hide table

11. Position bottom guard (12). Secure the guard to the radiator module with bolts (11).

12. Install top cover (9). Secure the cover with rubber latches (10).

13. Connect hose assemblies (8).

14. Install clip (7) on mounting bracket (6).

15. Position drive shaft (4) on the pump. Secure the drive shaft to the pump with bolts (5) and washers.

16. Position guard (3) over the drive shaft. Install bolts (2) in order to secure the guard. Connect harness assembly (1).

17. Refill the hydraulic tank. The capacity of the hydraulic tank is approximately 69 L (18 US gal).
