Introduction
This Special Instruction provides the information for installing the 1011534 and 1011536 Fuel Priming Pump Kits. It identifies the serviceable components of the kits. The 1011534 Fuel Priming Pump Kit is for engines arrangements with low mount fuel filters (DAVCO® Fuel Processor). The 1011536 Fuel Priming Pump Kit is for engine arrangements with high mount fuel filters (standard). This special instruction also describes the procedure for priming the fuel system.

Installation Procedure
1. Remove the tube that connects fuel transfer pump outlet (A) to fuel filter base inlet (C). Remove the fitting from the inlet on the fuel filter base.
2. The fuel priming pump group (2) must be partially disassembled for installation. Carefully remove the pump assembly (8) and fitting (9) from valve assembly (11). Note that spring (6) and ball (7) are held in position in valve assembly (11) by the fitting (9). Remove spring (6) and ball (7). Install valve assembly (11) on the inlet of the fuel filter base. Install ball (7) and spring (6) in the valve assembly. See Detail A in the illustration. The small end of spring (6) goes toward ball (7). Install fitting (9) and pump assembly (8). Orient the pump as shown in the illustration.
3. Put O-ring face seals (3) in position on the fuel transfer pump outlet fitting and the inlet of the fuel priming pump.
4. Install tube assembly [(1) if installing the 1011534 Fuel Priming Pump Kit, or (4) if installing the 1011536 Fuel Priming Pump Kit] between the fuel transfer pump outlet fitting and the fuel priming pump inlet.
Priming Procedure
1. Locate fuel priming pump (2). It is located on the inlet side of the fuel filter base.
2. Locate red selector knob (D) on the fuel priming pump.
3. Turn red selector knob (D) away from the fuel filter base as far as it will go (90 degrees). This is the PRIME position.
4. Move pump plunger (B) in a steady up and down motion to operate the pump.
5. Operate the pump plunger until resistance is felt.
6. Continue to operate the pump plunger for approximately 25 strokes. This will help remove air from the fuel gallery in the cylinder head and fuel lines.
7. On the last stroke of the pump plunger, leave the plunger in the down position and turn the plunger clockwise until it is hand tight.
8. Turn red selector knob (D) to the RUN position. In the RUN position, the pointer on the red selector knob is pointing at the fuel filter base. This completes the priming procedure.
