The Chassis Electronic Control Module (Chassis ECM) is the main component in the hydraulic electrical system. The Chassis ECM is located at the rear of the cab. The Chassis ECM has several input signals and output signals. Refer to Illustrations 1 and 2 for the input signals and the output signals.
The Chassis ECM receives current through a fuse on the fuse block. This current is used to activate the output components. The proportional solenoid valves are located on the control valves for the hoist and for the brake cooling. These proportional solenoid valves control the hoist system on the machine. The solenoid for pilot oil for the hoist system controls the pilot oil that is flowing to the proportional solenoid valves. The air start solenoid valve is part of the air system. The air start solenoid valve opens the air passage from the primary air tank to the air starters. The relay for the accumulator purge solenoid is part of the steering system. The relay for the accumulator purge solenoid activates the solenoid in order to purge the steering accumulators when the engine start switch is turned to the OFF position.
The Cat Data Link is used to share information with other systems such as the Power Train Electronic Control Module, the Brake/Cooling ECM, the Engine Electronic Control Modules, and the Vital Information Management System.
