NOTICE |
---|
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Lower the temperature of bearing (2) for the cylinder assembly. Use Tooling (B) to install bearing (2) into the pin bore of the cylinder assembly. Install the bearing until the bearing is centered in the bore. Use Tooling (B) to install two retaining rings (1) in the pin bore of the cylinder assembly until the retaining rings contact the bearing.
- Install seal (8) and ring (9) on head (15).
Note: Make sure that the grooves for the seals in head (15) are thoroughly clean prior to assembly.
- Install seals (10) and (11) and ring (14) in head (15), as shown.
- Apply 4C-4032 Bearing Mount Compound to the groove for the wiper seal prior to assembly. Use Tooling (B) to install seal (12) in head (15).
- Install ring (13) in head (15), as shown.
- Apply clean hydraulic oil on the lip of the seals and on the rings in head (15).
- Put head (15) in position on the cylinder assembly.
- Fasten Tooling (A) to the cylinder assembly. Temporarily install the cylinder assembly and head (15) onto the rod assembly. Disconnect head (15) from the cylinder assembly. Remove the rod assembly and the head as a unit from the cylinder assembly.
- Install seal assembly (5) and ring (6) on piston (7). Lubricate the outside of piston (7) with 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease.
- Install piston (7) on the rod assembly. Lubricate the threads on the end of bolt (3) with 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease.
- Install washer (4) and bolt (3) on piston (7). Use the universal wrench that is sold with Tooling (A) to tighten bolt (3) to a torque of
1800 ± 200 N·m (1328 ± 148 lb ft) . - Fasten a suitable lifting device to the cylinder assembly. Slide the cylinder assembly over the rod assembly until the cylinder assembly meets head (15).
- Lubricate the threads on the end of head (15) with 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease. Tighten head (15) to a torque of
600 ± 130 N·m (443 ± 96 lb ft) .
