------ WARNING! ------

To prevent personal injury when checks are made while the machine is in operation, make sure only approved personnel are on the machine. Keep other personnel off the machine and in view of the operator. Make sure checks are done in an open area.

----------------------

Note: Use the information in the reference to prepare the machine for this test.

Reference: For the correct procedure to prepare the machine for this test, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting" for the machine that is being serviced.

Note: For information on the swing speed, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Swing Speed and Overswing on Level Ground - Check".

Reference: For information on the travel speed, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Travel on Level Ground - Test".

Implements

  1. Make sure that the machine is resting on a smooth, level surface. The machine should be moved away from other operating machines and away from personnel.

  1. Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep other personnel away from the machine or in the operator's sight.

  1. Lower the felling head to ground when you are not testing the felling head.

  1. Warm the hydraulic oil to normal operating temperature. Normal operating temperature is 55 ± 5°C (130 ± 10°F).

  1. Test the cycle time of each function. If the function is not within the specifications that are listed in Table 1, follow steps 6 through 14 in order to adjust the cycle time for the individual function.

( 1 ) Fully retract the tool tilt cylinder. Fully extend the stick cylinder. Place the felling head on the ground.
( 2 ) Keep the tool tilt cylinder fully retracted. Fully extend the stick cylinder.
( 3 ) Fully retract the tool tilt cylinder. Raise the felling head 1 m (3 ft) above the ground.
( 4 ) Fully extend the stick cylinder. Raise the felling head 1 m (3 ft) above the ground.

    Boom Down     17     9     12.5
    Stick In     16     9     12.5
    Stick Out     10     12.5     12.5
    Tool Tilt Up     18     12.5     12.5
    Tool Tilt Down     12     11     12.5

    Right Track Reverse     9     10.5     12.5
    Right Track Forward     15     10.5     12.5

  1. Loosen the locknut for the flow limiter valve. Unscrew the locknut as far as possible. This will ensure that the locknut will not interfere while you are turning the adjustment screw for the flow limiter valve.

  1. Turn the adjustment screw for the flow limiter valve clockwise. Turn the adjustment screw until you feel contact between the screw and the valve spool.

  1. Back out the adjustment screw (turning counterclockwise). Use the specifications that are listed in Table 3 in order to set the valve properly.

  1. Each complete turn is equal to 1 mm (.04 inch).

Note: Do not adjust the flow limiter valve for the boom, the stick, the tool tilt, and the travel beyond 12.5 turns. The flow path of the valve spool will be reduced after 12.5 turns.

Note: Do not adjust the flow limiter valve for the swing beyond 10.5 turns. The flow path of the valve spool will be reduced after 10.5 turns.

  1. Tighten the locknut for the flow limiter valve.

  1. Follow steps 1 through 5 in order to retest the cycle time of each implement function.

Felling Head

  1. Make sure that the machine is resting on a smooth, level surface. The machine should be moved away from other operating machines and away from personnel.

  1. Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep other personnel away from the machine or in the operator's sight.

  1. Raise the felling head.

  1. Warm the hydraulic oil to normal operating temperature. Normal operating temperature is 55 ± 5°C (130 ± 10°F).

  1. Test the cycle time of each function. If the function is not within the specifications that are listed in Table 4, follow steps 6 through 14 in order to adjust the cycle time for the individual function.

Use the specifications that are listed in Table 5 in order to set the valve properly.

  1. Each complete turn is equal to 1 mm (.04 inch).
