  2. Attach a suitable nylon lifting sling around parking brake (8), around actuator (3) and to a suitable hoist. Carefully install parking brake (8) onto the machine and be sure not to catch on any wires or loose hoses. Install four bolts (15) and four washers (16). Tighten four bolts (15) to a torque of 530 ± 70 N·m (390 ± 52 lb ft). The weight of parking brake (8) is 45 kg (100 lb).

  4. Install shoe retainer (11), pin (10) and cotter pin (9).

    Illustration 4g00771550

  5. Install bolt (4), washer (5) and clamp (6) in order to secure hose (7) to parking brake (8). Connect hose (2) to actuator (3) and tighten retaining nut (1).

  6. In the removal procedure, the parking brake was manually released. Use the following procedure to reset the parking brake.

      Illustration 5g00773355

    1. Screw rod (17) out of actuator (3) in a counterclockwise direction until dimension (A) is reached before tightening locknut (18). Dimension (A) is 43.4 mm (1.7 inch).

    2. Start the engine. Disengage the parking brake.

    4. Insert a 6mm allen wrench into parking brake (8). Turn the allen wrench in a clockwise direction until resistance is felt. The gap between two brake shoes (12) and brake disc (21) should be zero.

    5. To set the initial running clearance, turn the allen wrench in a counterclockwise direction. You will feel a click on the allen wrench. Turn the allen wrench for eight clicks.

    6. Use a feeler gauge to check the gap between two brake shoes (12) and brake disc (21). The running clearance between two brake shoes (12) and brake disc (21) is 0.575 ± 0.075 mm (0.023 ± 0.003 inch).

    7. If the running gap is not correct, increase or reduce the number of clicks. Refer to steps 6.d through 6.f.

    8. Install plug (19) and gasket (20). Engage the parking brake and stop the engine.

  7. Remove tooling (A) in order to lower the truck body.

  8. Remove the chocks from the road wheels.

End By:

  1. Remove the steering frame lock. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering Frame Lock".
