The apparent failure of the 8C-5336 Transmission Control may be caused by an excessive current flow from a faulty transmission solenoid. The resistance of 8I-4582 Solenoid Coil and 8I-4586 Solenoid must be between 9.30 Ohms and 10.28 Ohms. If the resistance is not within this range the solenoids must be replaced.
The solenoids have a dual source on the same part number. The resistance in the coils from one of the suppliers may be incorrect. A combination of both types of coils may be installed on some machines. The solenoids in the following transmission groups could be affected.
The name of the supplier is located on the solenoid. Check the name of the supplier. Some of the coils in the solenoids that are supplied by HYDROFORCE are faulty. The windings in the coils have now been changed in order to give improved reliability. The good coils are supplied by HYDROFORCE INC.
The serial number prefix of the machine transmission which has good solenoids is S/N:ABEA
.
The machine transmissions with the following serial number prefix may have faulty coils.
- ZBEA
- RBEA
Replace the solenoids and check the operation of the transmission control.
If the transmission fails to operate, replace the transmission control.
The 8C-5336 Transmission Control has now been replaced by the 180-9711 Transmission Control. Refer to Service Magazine.
