A New Speed Sensor Group Is Used On The Rear Engine {1907, 1907}

Usage:

797 5YW
Off-Highway Truck:
797 (PIN: 5YW)

Description of Change: A new speed sensor group (magnetic pickup) is used in the engine wiring group for the rear engine. The new speed sensor group is designed to help prevent corrosion of the sensor coil. This will provide improved reliability for the new speed sensor group .

Adaptable To: The new 189-5746 Speed Sensor Group (1) is a direct replacement for the former 6V-2455 Speed Sensor Group in the 137-8325 Engine Wiring Group on the rear engine. The new speed sensor group is effective with 797 Off-Highway Truck (PIN: 5YW240-UP).

Installation Of The Speed Sensor Group

REAR VIEW OF REAR ENGINE

This illustration shows the location of the new 189-5746 Speed Sensor Group (1) .

  1. Install the speed sensor group (1) into the 5/8 inch threaded hole in the flywheel housing. See the illustration.

  1. Tighten the speed sensor group until the magnetic core of the speed sensor contacts a tooth on the flywheel ring gear.

  1. Loosen the speed sensor group for 1/2 turn.

  1. Tighten the locknut on the speed sensor group to a torque of 25 ± 5 N·m (18 ± 4 lb ft).

  1. The clearance between the speed sensor group and the flywheel ring gear should be 0.56 to 0.84 mm (0.022 to 0.033 inch).
